Teen Health Connection is proud to celebrate 25 years of service to teens and families in our community. Invited guests joined us at a celebratory luncheon to commemorate this momentous occasion. Special guest, Muggsy Bogues was a member of the Teen Health Connection Board of Directors from 1992-1993 and was the featured speaker at the luncheon. Tyrone "Muggsy" Bogues was born January 9, 1965 in Baltimore, Maryland. During his high school years, Dunbar won 59 consecutive basketball games and was ranked one of the top high school teams in the US. He graduated from Wake Forest where the school retired his jersey number. Muggsy was selected 12th in the first round of the NBA draft by the Washington Bullets; he retired from the NBA ranking 16th among all-time assist leaders. The Charlotte Hornets drafted Muggsy where he raised his points-per-game average to 10 in the 1992-1993 season and helped lead the Hornets to their first ever appearance in the NBA playoffs, making the playoffs again in 1995. Muggsy retired from professional play ranking at number 16 among all-time assist leaders in the NBA. Since leaving the NBA, Muggsy works with his nonprofit, Always Believe Inc., based in Charlotte where he resides with his family. Muggsy is also an Ambassador for the NBA traveling the world educating youth.
