The Big Picture is a dynamic health education and community outreach initiative that is solely written and preformed by and for adolescent youth. Based on data from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Youth Risk Behavior Survey, this youth initiative addresses the current trends and health related issues facing teenagers today, with a focus on positive behavioral and health choices. The Big Picture is spearheaded by Teen Health Connection in collaboration with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools - Northwest School of the Arts, Carolinas HealthCare System - Levine Children's Hospital, Mecklenburg Medical Alliance and Endowment, MeckLINK Behavioral Healthcare, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools' Parent University, the Junior League of Charlotte Inc., the United Way of Central Carolinas and many in-kind donors and community volunteers.
For 2014 Teen Health Connection has again partnered exclusively with Northwest School of the Arts and will present "The Big Picture" - a contemporary, hard-hitting, health-focused play written and performed by teens for teens March 30-April 3 at the McGlohon Theater at Spirit Square.

3. Professional Ethics Conference - Ethics with Adolescents: The Big Picture
This conference is offered through Charlotte AHEC and targeted to mental health clinicians (psychiatrists, social workers, counselors), substance abuse counselors or other interested healthcare providers.
Working with teens carries a great responsibility and requires significant knowledge in order to effectively assist during this crucial time in their development. It is important to understand your ethical responsibility as a clinician and how to effectively resolve ethical problems that arise. In this workshop participants will learn ethical decision-making process, explore and discuss real-life scenarios and improve comptency in handling secific ethical dilemmas that occur in working with adolescents.
